It's finally getting spring here! Last weekend, we were around Blenheim and went to the Japanese Gardens. It's really nice there. A little drive further away there's a little lovely lake. My host sister wanted me to take a swim but she fortunately didn't manage to throw me into the water :-)
The landshape here is really interesting. We drove along on a road which suddenly turned in a stony path. Honestly, it was like in the wild west...
Now that I've been away from home for already more than six whole weeks, I feel home here in Blenheim. The dialy routine is here again but I'm not bored! Here are so many things I've never seen or heard of and I want to get to know. School is different here, we only have five lessons a day and we usually leave home at eight o'clock in the morning. That's great, isn't it?  ;-)
Unfortunately my cell phone isn't working properly anymore, so I bought a blue, touchscreen camera on Monday to take photos :-) The next day I already used it because there was a ski and snowboard competition in the mountains, at the Rainbow Skifields. The day was awesome, it was quiet warm and the sun was shining the whole day. The only problem was that we didn't win anything, the slalom was icy, so I fell and got disqualified. The most beautiful view was certainly this one...can you see the loveheart?
If you hear a noise outside in the noon here, it's the icecream-bus. Haha I had one with pink Sherbet. The man who selled it thaught all Swiss were blond and was very confused :-P Generally the icecream in New Zealand is just delicious, so I'm having my second for today now... Tonight I played the cornet at a concert in town with the Junior Brass Band, it was fun although it was difficult to follow sometimes because I haven't played the songs before... Now I'm watching TV with my host family and soon going to bed. I'm really nacked. Have a good day in Switzerland, and good night in Aotearoa! xoxo to all of you

First weekend on the South Island!

After two days in Blenheim it was already weekend. We went to Picton, a cute place right at the sea. There are some gift shops, cafés. ... It's a lovely little spot!

The sunny weather was brilliant to take a great photo of my host family :-)
A little time later, we drove to the Karaka Point, where the Maoris used to defend their place and of course...shock their enemies!
I've never seen so many shells before!!!

Finally arriving in Blenheim!

And suddenly, the Culture Camp has finished. We had an amazing last evening; some of us had to eat a full spoon of marmite, others had to stuff as many marshmallows as possible into their mouth, there were haka performers, dry-weetbix-eaters and so on :D When the time came to leave, almost everyone had tears in the eyes :'( One shuttle after the other left. Finally at half past twelve my shuttle came and we drove to the Auckland Airport. We all were incredibly nervous and excited to meet our host families! After our flights to New Zealand from Switzerland in some huge airplanes, we were quite surprised when we saw the airplane which was going to take us to our final destination!
In the airplane I was sitting beside an American Professor for geography. It was quite funny to talk to him and I was glad to be able to talk to somebody instead of being nervous on my own! ;-) When we got off the plane on the small Blenheim airport we all looked bloody nervous and when we walked towards the building we could see our host families, standing there with a poster. I got such a cute soft kiwi! He's on my bed now :P I cuddle him every evening before I go to bed! At my new home, my family showed me my bedroom, which they equiped in red, black and white and there is even a piano! I love it ;-) I was so happy that I finally arrived at my host family and I also made friends with the birds. We have got about 25 birds, a cat which loves the red cuddly blanket on my bed and a dog called Tazz and I totally love them <3...
...they also like sitting on our heads and especially playing with long hair :-P

my first post!

Hello :)
That's my first blog on my own website! I've had an amazing time in New Zealand so far. After two weeks in the EF Culture Camp in Auckland I finally went to my host family in Blenheim at the end of July.
The Culture Camp was really cool; we went surfing on Piha Beach, climbed on a volcanic island called Rangitoto, enjoyed the absolutely impressing view from the Skytower in Auckland and played some of the popular Kiwi sports like touch rugby and baseball.
We also were on a farm and...Bungee Jumping!!!
Of course, we were accompanied by our mascot, called Tu Meke, all the time! ;-)

The Camp was an awesome experience and I met so many lovely people. Thanks for this great time!
